Blue. Because I felt bleu. That’s a Dutch expres Blue. Because I felt bleu. That’s a Dutch expression - “he or she is a bit bleu” - and it means: inexperienced, unpolished, new. I think the English equivalent would be green or wet behind the ears. That’s exactly how I feel when it comes to our new business. It’s e-commerce. It’s all new to me. I’m learning about margins, logistics, what focus really means. I’m learning how to start a company in another country. I’m picking up Swiss-German expressions.

I’m learning how much humility this takes.
And I’m remembering that I actually like starting from zero.
Because when you have nothing, you’re a nobody (Hey, I didn’t make the rules. Yes, it’s exhausting. But that’s how the world works).

And when you’re a nobody, everything’s up to you. You have to show up, speak up, and put yourself out there. Every damn day.

Weirdly enough, that feeling (of starting from nothing, of having nothing to lose) is exactly what excites me. What drives me. A lot. How far can I take this? How much can I push it?

Wishing you a lovely weekend, dear friend. ❤️

This week, we signed some important papers for our This week, we signed some important papers for our new business. Wore my @driesvannoten dress to do it in style 😉

On a more serious note: I was talking to my dear entrepreneurial friend @its.damla.kartal (who’s writing an amazing career book!), and she said: “Everything you’re telling me about how to start a business, you should be sharing this with others.” And guess what… I do! Via my weekly newsletters on Substack. Did you find me there already?
Summer days in Switzerland 🇨🇭 A special week Summer days in Switzerland 🇨🇭 A special week, because… I officially emigrated!

Trying not to think too hard about the sudden spike in daily expenses 😵‍💫 but hey - worth it. The quality of life here? Chef’s kiss. Beautiful cities, breathtaking mountains, kind people.

And as a Dutchie used to grumpy cashiers at Albert Heijn (you know what I mean)… it’s honestly a dream.

Enjoy the weekend dear friends and next week on Monday we will open a bottle of champagne. Stay tuned to discover why 🤍
Week 24. I continue gathering inspiration for our Week 24. I continue gathering inspiration for our new business. While being in bed. Because a virus got me. The only day present in the office wearing my @essenthelabel shoes. 4th pair of shoes I have from them and with a reason: sooo comfy. Yes, even these strappy heels walk and feel super comfortable. Enjoy the weekend dear. Next week new (bilangual) newsletter! 😘

It was the day after the government reopened the borders, in the midst of the pandemic. Rome was empty. No tourists. I stood alone at St. Peter’s. At the Trevi Fountain, just three people. I walked through the Vatican by myself. Hallways silent, still. It was magical. Not just because I had this crowded city to myself, but because those three months were pure joy. Learning the language, eating well, making new friends, and soaking up the Italian way of life.

I haven’t been back since. Maybe I don’t dare to. Some places are better left untouched. Their memory brighter than anything a second time around.

🍝🍨🍷🍕
